Nebraska lawmakers will be gathering in Lincoln Wednesday morning to open the 2013 legislative session.
The first day which begins at 10 a.m. will see the swearing-in of 11 new senators who will take the oath of office to replace members who either lost re-election or were forced out by term limits.
Committee heads and a new speaker will be voted on during the first day as Norfolk Sen. Mike Flood was one of the lawmakers forced out by term limits. York's Sen. Greg Adams is expected to be chosen as the new speaker.
Lawmakers are expected to focus on the state budget, tax cuts and a proposal to expand Medicaid during this year's session.
