A new drug trial for a Grand Island man has been ordered after accuracy could not be proven.

Bryan Van Richardson Jr. was convicted in 2011 of dealing 10.25 grams of cocaine and received a sentence of up to six years.

The 10 gram mark is a tipping point in sentencing guidelines. Had the amount been less than 10 grams, Richardson would have faced a less severe felony and sentence.

Friday, the Nebraska Supreme Court said that because it was only a quarter gram of cocaine over that limit details proving accuracy should have been present.
