A new fire house in the community of Amherst is giving the town a fresh look.
The building has been in use for a couple of months but on Saturday the firefighters gave the public a tour with an open house.
"It's been needed for... I think we started talking about a new building since probably 10 years ago," said Amherst fireman Trent Trampe.
Many firefighters say the old firehouse just did not do the job.
"The building is pretty small, outgrown, aged. This was something that was definitely needed," said Amherst fireman Glen Brown.
The building cost $500,000 and the land was given to the department by All Points Co-Op.
The fire house sits right off Highway 40.
