Area Students to Attend 2013 Water Jamboree


Hundreds of fifth and sixth gradersfrom Nebraska and Kansas will gather at the South-Central 4-H Camp and HarlanCounty Dam on Wednesday and Thursday, April 24-25 for the 2013 Water Jamboree.

The event aims to teach students about our water resources by utilizing activities related to aquatic life, its recreational uses, water quality, non-point source pollution, irrigation, historical events, plants and water, and how water quality affects wildlife.

The first sessions will begin atabout 9:30 a.m., with the Jamboree coming to an end around 2:15 p.m.

The Water Jamboree is a cooperativeeffort by the Tri-Basin NRD, Lower Republican NRD, University of NebraskaCooperative Extension, the USDA/Natural Resources Conservation Service, TheCentral Nebraska Public Power and Irrigation District, the U.S. Army Corps ofEngineers, and Kansas State Research and Extension.
