A member of the Nebraska state auditor's staff has joined the race for state auditor.
Republican Larry Anderson said Thursday that he will seek the job held by his boss, State Auditor Mike Foley, who is running for governor.
Anderson says his experience as a state auditor and a Nebraska Army National Guard officer makes him an ideal candidate for the job.
He says he would like to see a greater connection between taxpayers and the office, which keeps Nebraska taxpayers informed on how funds are being handled or mishandled.
Anderson will face Sen. Charlie Janssen, of Fremont, in the Republican primary.
Sen. Amanda McGill, of Lincoln, is running as a Democrat.
