Authorities Investigate Loup City Shooting, Believe Husband Accidentally Shot Wife

The Sherman County Sheriff's Office with the assistance of Kearney police is investigating what appears to be an accidental shooting in Loup City.

Sherman County officials were called to a Loup City home a little after 10 p.m. Wednesday, where a woman at the residence was reportedly shot by her husband.

According to authorities, Michael Hill had fallen asleep with a handgun on his chest that he had previously been checking. Officers were told the gun went off when Sandra Hill tried to awaken her husband.

Sandra Hill was shot in her hip and was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital. Authorities say she is in stable condition.
