Authorities have released the names of the people involved in a fatal crash on Interstate 80 Thursday evening.

The Nebraska State Patrol says the crash occurred just before 5 p.m. Thursday just west of the Seward exit on I-80. Authorities say two semi-trailer trucks were stopped in a work zone area in an eastbound lane when a third semi rear-ended the other trucks.

The driver of the third semi, 28-year-old Marcus Lathon, of Chesapeake, Va., was killed in the crash. His passenger, 34-year-old Kwasi Obeng-Benne, of El Paso, Texas, was seriously injured and flown to a Lincoln hospital.

Authorities say both men were wearing seat belts.

The drivers of the other semi-trailer trucks were not seriously injured.

The crash closed a portion of the interstate for more than three hours. The incident remains under investigation.
