Authorities in Garfield County responded to a call about an explosive this morning.

Around 9 a.m. on Friday, the Garfield County Sheriff's Office was notified about a possible explosive device on the northeast side of the Calamus Reservoir Dam.

The device appeared to be homemade from PVC pipe.

The Nebraska State Patrol Bomb Squad also responded. They were able to safely detonate the device.

Officials say if the bomb had gone off, no structural damage would have been done to the reservoir dam. No injuries were reported.
