Beef State License Plate is Back

Vehicles across Nebraska will again sport license plates proclaiming "The Beef State."

Standard licence plates in the state once carried the slogan, but it was retired decades ago. Last year, the Nebraska Cattlemen announced they were reviving the slogan for specialty plates.

The Nebraska Cattlemen and Nebraska Cattlemen Research & Education Foundation announced that they have received the 500 required applications for the Beef State license plates.

Non-profit organizations in the state can design their own plates, if they sell a minimum number. The Cattlemen join Creighton University and Friends of the Union Pacific Railroad Museum as the only organizational plates available.

Cattlemen report that the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles has begun printing the plates.

Those who have sent in an application for a plate will be receiving letters from the DMV referencing when they will be receiving the license plates.
