Bowl for Kids’ Sake Raises Funds, Recruits Mentors

Dozens of people were throwing strikes for Big Brothers Big Sisters Grand Island on Saturday.

BBBS held their annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake at SuperBowl in GI. Board members say it’s the non-profit’s biggest fundraiser.

The money helps them keep doing work in area schools and with pairing adults and kids together as Bigs and Littles.

It’s also a chance to spread the word and recruit more volunteers to become mentors.

“We’re always looking for Bigs, male and female,” says BBBS board member Todd Birchard. “I can’t tell you how much I enjoy it and how rewarding it is to me to see my Little look up to me and hang out with him and have just a great time.”

BBBS held another Bowl for Kids’ Sake in Aurora last month as well.

On Saturday bowlers got to register for door prizes and bowl with Nebraska Danger players.
