Bronco Softball eases past York


York - The Hastings College softball team only needed six innings in each game of its doubleheader against York defeating the Panthers 10-0 in game one and 12-0 in game two on Friday.

Taylor Erlenbusch picked up another complete game shutout pitching six innings and only giving up three hits while striking out eight Panthers.

Hastings only had nine hits for the game but made most of them count as Molly Mullervy, Heather Sabata, Cara Williams and Jessica Finnegan each had two RBIs.

The Broncos did all of its damage in the fourth and sixth innings scoring five runs in each frame.

In game two the Broncos pounded out 19 hits while scoring 12 runs enroute to a 12-0 win.

McKenzie Welchert scattered five hits in her complete game performance while picking up two strikeouts.

Chloe Boeke and Sabata led the way for the Broncos as each had two RBIs each. Eight of the 10 batters Hastings sent to the plate had a RBI.

Williams and Kelsey Hoehler each finished the game with three hits apiece.

Hastings is now 19-16 (8-4) on the year and will be back in action Tuesday April 22 as Doane comes to town for a doubleheader with first pitch set for 5:00 p.m. at the Smith Softball Complex.
