Broncos Upend Defending National Champs
In the second game featuring a GPAC team, the Hastings Broncosovercame a slow start, en route to a 73-63 overtime win against IndianaWesleyan.
Hastings took a 25-21 lead into halftime, as neither team was able to getthings going on the offensive end during the first half, combining for just 13made field goals.
In the second half, the Broncos looked to be in control, leading 57-52 withjust under two minutes left to play. However, Hastings didn't score again inregulation, and Indiana Wesleyan forced overtime, 57-57.
In the extra frame, Hastings made the most of their opportunities at thecharity stripe as they pulled away for a 73-63 win. Cami Bruckman led allscorers with 25 points, while Laurel Zwiener pitched in with 18 points. EmmaStahl had 20 points in the loss for Indiana Wesleyan.
The Hastings Broncos (28-5) will take on Davenport (Mich.) (33-1) at 6 p.m.in the quarterfinals on Saturday. Davenport moved on with a 110-77 win overPurdue Calumet.
