County fair season is coming up, but before the Buffalo County Fair kicks off some 4-H'ers will be showcasing their talents at the Fashion Show/Judging competition.

The free fashion show will be held on July 19 at the UNK Fine Arts Building recital hall at 7 p.m. Students will be showing off their style with garments constructed as part of sewing projects or purchased outfits that are part of consumer management projects.

Those participating in the sewing project must shop for fabric and a pattern and actually complete the process of actually sewing the outfit.

4-H'ers involved in the consumer management program participate in the Shopping In Style Project. They must determine from a closet inventory what outfit is needed. They then make a budget before shopping. Before purchasing an outfit, participants must also consider good fit, color, quality and price of the pieces. A report is then written up about the process.
