BUTTE, Neb. (AP) -- A 40-year-old Butte man has died after his vehicle ran into a semitrailer on a highway in northeast Nebraska.

The Nebraska State Patrol says the accident occurred around 9:30 p.m. Monday on Nebraska Highway 11, just west of Butte.

The patrol says the vehicle driven by Daniel Kocian didn't halt at a stop sign and ran onto the highway, striking the big rig.

Authorities say Kocian was pronounced dead at a hospital in O'Neill. It's unclear whether the semitrailer driver was injured.

The Boyd County Sheriff's Office is investigating the collision.
