Kearny County officials are investigating why a car hit a home late Saturday night. The sheriff's office says it happened in Lowell around 9:40 p.m.

Authorities say a 17-year-old Hastings teen was driving a 2003 Impala South on Lowell Road, when she lost control, struck a chain link fence, and ran into a house on the corner of Lowell and Carpenter roads.

The homeowner, who was home but not injured, is just glad it wasn't any worse.

"I was sitting watching T. V. and all of a sudden I thought a bomb or something went off, it was just a loud explosion," said homeowner Melanie Murr. "And I came running out here, and I could hear kids screaming, more afright of it than anything. I'm just thankful no one was hurt any more seriously than they were, and it can be fixed."

The driver and four teen passengers were all transported to Good Samaritan Hospital, treated for minor injuries and released.

Officials say seatbelts were worn and alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
