Central Nebraska's MS Walks Raise Awareness for Disease

Up to $6,000 a month is what some patients living with MS spend on treatment -- that's why many across the state are walking to raise awareness.

More than 250 walkers from Central Nebraska showed up at Barr elementary in Grand Island on Saturday to walk for MS, a disease with no known cure.

"I can honestly say before I was diagnosed, I knew nothing about it -- I couldn't even say it" Jodi Lang, one of the organizers, said. "But it's very important to raise awareness, because it's a manageable disease."

"You just have to have the knowledge on it" she said, "and about the resources that are out there for you."

Proceeds go toward research and direct services for people living with MS.
