Changes May Come to Neb. Lethal Injection Protocol Due to Scarce Drug
Attorney General Jon Bruningreported that state officials have discussed changes to Nebraska's lethalinjection protocol.
The changes may come nowthat a key drug in the cocktail has become increasingly scarce.
Bruning said he wouldsupport a change to ensure that the state can carry out executions.
The state's three-drugprotocol calls for a dose of sodium thiopental to render an inmate unconscious, followed by two other drugs.
Sodium thiopental hasbecome nearly impossible to buy and Nebraska's supply expires in December.
