A southeast Nebraska man has been killed in a hit-and-run, and authorities are asking for the public's help to find a suspect in the case.

The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office says 62-year-old Gregory Nicklas was killed Thursday night as he walked his dog near his Hickman home. Nicklas' wife found her husband badly injured near the end of their driveway. Authorities say he died at the scene.

Nicklas was the co-founder and co-CEO of Christian Heritage, which provides faith-based services for families, including foster care. Christian Heritage's main office is in Lincoln, but the group expanded into central Nebraska in 1998 and into Omaha in 2002, according to its website.

The website says services have been scheduled for Thursday, June 5, at 10:30 a.m., at Lincoln Berean Church, 6400 S. 70th Street, Lincoln. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Roper and Sons.
