City of Grand Island Hires MPO Manager

The city of Grand Island announces the hiring of John Adams for the position of Metropolitan Planning Organization program manager.

Adams comes to the position with nearly 30 years of experience working in transportation planning. Adams most recently worked for the Richland County Regional Planning Commission in Mansfield, Ohio, serving as the transportation technical director for nearly 18 years.

Prior to working for Richland County, Adams was employed as the MPO coordinator for Stateline Area Transportation in Beloit, Wis.

Adams holds a bachelor's degree in Operations Management/Information Systems from Bradley University in Peoria, Ill.

As the MPO program manager Adams will be charged with the responsibilities of overseeing federally mandated reporting; completing federally mandated studies, such as traffic modeling; and will serve as the coordinator between the MPO Policy Board, MPO Technical Advisory Committee, the engineering division of Public Works, the Regional Planning Department, and associated political entities.

Adams first day with the city of Grand Island will be Friday, Feb. 28. Adams will start at step 14 of the MPO program manager salary table which is $70,929.46 annually.
