After severe weather moved through Hastings on Sunday night, the city is responding to tree damage.

The city reports that tree damage is widespread with a number of large trees down in yards, parks and in the streets. The first priority is to clear the parks and trees blocking streets.

City crews will be working to pick up storm damage from the public terrace, but are asking citizens to not pile limbs in the streets or on sidewalks. Crews will be making only one pass through the community.

The city landfill will be open during its regular hours which are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4:45 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon. Hastings residents will be able to bring their limbs and trees to the landfill at no charge through Saturday, August 23.

The terrace pick up will take some time to complete, due to the scope of the damage and the City's loss of seasonal staff. If possible, citizens are encouraged to transport their limbs.
