The city of Kearney has updated several of its city codes to better define categories of animals for clarification and enforcement purposes.
Chapters 8, 46 and 47 of the City Code have been updated with amendments to the definitions of domesticated and wild animals. Wild animals are not allowed anywhere within city limits, while domesticated animals have different regulations.
Domesticated animals are further refined as either household pets, fowl, large domesticated animals or livestock. The amendments became effective Wednesday, March 27.
