Common Questions About Mammograms

One in eight women get breast cancer. Early detection is key in defeating breast cancer. A really good way to detect breast cancer early on is by getting a mammogram done.

Women ages 35-40 should get their first mammogram, unless family history requires an earlier timeframe.

Before the actual mammogram women should not drink caffeine for 72 hours. They should also make sure to not wear deodorant for the actual mammogram.

Good Samaritan Hospital has two digital mammogram machines that make for a quick and painless process, and lead to clearer results.

For the month of October Good Samaritan Hospital is holding weekly drawings for those that go in to receive a mammogram. There are a couple of different prize options for the drawings.

There is also an event Thursday, Oct. 11 at the Merryman Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. "Simply Pink" is an event that celebrates breast cancer survivors. There will be a fashion show featuring survivors escorted by members of the Tri-City Storm.
