Grieving for the loss of a loved one can be a long and difficult road, and one that can be especially difficult around the holiday season.
Remembering past holidays with loved ones and feeling their absence for the first time during the holiday season can cause painful triggers of grief and present challenges during this time of the year.
Evy Kuecker, a widow and volunteer with Aseracare Hospice in Kearney remembers the feelings of her husband passing just two days after Christmas in 2011.
"You feel lonesome after you've lost your spouse and different things happen you know -- maybe it's kind of like you had company and they've come to your house and they leave. You kind of feel, not sick in your stomach, but different," Kuecker said.
Aseracare Hospice in Kearney provides services for those grieving during this difficult time, from support groups and special holiday memorial services for loved ones, to an array of books for understanding and dealing with death.
