      Cornhusker State Games Torch Run, Basketball Player Player Erick Strickland Coming to Kearney

      In conjunction with the Cornhusker State Games Torch Run coming to Kearney and several other activities planned in the YMCA parking lot, former Nebraska Cornhusker and NBA basketball player Erick Strickland will host a basketball clinic in Kearney on Wednesday, June 25 at the Kearney YMCA from 4-6 p.m.

      All registered youths, ages 5-18, will receive a clinic shirt, an autographed photo and other sponsor gifts. Cost to attend is $20 per person. Onsite registrations will be accepted, but shirts are not guaranteed.

      Other activities planned for the evening including a ZumbaThon from 5-6 p.m.; a torch arrival ceremony, featuring a welcome and an autograph session with Strickland at 6 p.m.; a 2014 Wellness Grant presentation from BlueCross BlueShield and a BodyPump Launch at 6:30 p.m.

      The Torch Run will come to Kearney on its third of five legs. It officially concludes with the lighting of the cauldron by a mystery athlete at the Games Opening Ceremonies on Friday, July 18 at Lincoln’s Pinnacle Bank Arena.
