Nebraska's farmers have been able to use the relatively dry weather conditions across the state to catch up on this year's corn harvest.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, 55 percent of the corn had been harvested by the end of last week, matching the yearly average for that date. Farmers had to play catch-up to reach those numbers as the harvest was behind the average by 12 percent just the week before.
The report from the USDA also shows that farmers are ahead on their soybean harvest. At 94 percent complete, the harvest is 6 percent ahead of the average for this time of year.
