Dad Accused of Attacking Wrestler Who Defeated His Son
Upset about a wrestling match, a Dunning man is accused of attacking the wrestler who defeated his son.
Stacey Micheel, 40, of Dunning, was arrested Feb. 13 during the District Wrestling meet at Cambridge Public Schools.
The Furnas County Sheriff’s Office was on scene at the school and conducted an investigation.
Investigators say Micheel assaulted a 17-year-old wrestler that had just competed against his son by slamming him to the ground in the hallway.
According to court records, Micheel told investigators the winning wrestler was "talking crap" about his son.
The incident was captured on surveillance video at the school and witnessed by another student.
As a result of the investigation, Micheel was arrested and jailed for felony child abuse. In addition, Micheel was also arrested for an outstanding warrant from Custer County.
A Furnas County judge set bond in the amount of $7,500, subject to 10 percent. Child Abuse is a Class 3A Felony that is punishable by up to three years imprisonment, a $10,000 fine or both.
Micheel has since bonded out of jail. His arraignment date is scheduled for Feb. 22 in Furnas County.
