It's history in the making, as NTV's Outstanding Teacher award kicks off a new semester of the 2013–2014 school year.

Kenwood Elementary fourth grade teacher Megan Buerer received not one, but two nominations for this award.

Students Carleigh Eurek and Dreidyn Cabanting both wrote letters, without the other knowing, expressing how nice she is and how she makes learning fun.

Mrs. Buerer says that's what motivates her.

"The kids, absolutely, they are the light of my life," said Buerer. "I adore them, I love being around them, they make me want to be a better teacher and grow as an educator. They're wonderful."

Congratulations to Megan Buerer's win for NTV's Outstanding Teacher award.

Her fourth grade class will get lunch from Runza for this honor.
