Decrease in SNAP Benefits Coming in November

Recipients of Nebraska's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will see a decrease in benefits come Nov. 1 as a federal program expires.

According to Thomas Pristow, director of Children and Family Services in the Department of Health and Human Services, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 will expire prompting the change in benefits.

Pristow says that a family of four with no changes in their status will see a decrease in their monthly benefits of $36.

According to Pristow, there are currently 181,484 people participating in SNAP in Nebraska.
