Dilly Casserole Bread and Chew Chews

Dilly Casserole Bread



  • 2 pkgs Rapid Rise Yeast

  • ½ Cup warm water

  • 2 cups cottage cheese

  • 4 TBSP sugar

  • 2 Tbsp instant minced onions

  • 2 Tbsp butter, melted

  • 4 tsp. dill seed

  • 2 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp baking soda

  • 2 unbeaten eggs

  • 4 ½ - 5 cups all purpose flour


Dissolve yeast in warm water, combine with all other ingredients except flour. Beat well.


Add flour in 2 portions, beating well after each. Cover let rise until double in size. (add more flour by kneading until it isn't sticky) Turn into well greased 1 ½ - 2 qt casserole dish. Or divide in 2 and use 2 regular bread pans or 4 small. Let rise until light. Bake at 325 degrees for 40 – 50 minutes until golden brown. After removing from oven brush with soft butter. Best eaten warm or toasted.


Chew Chews



  • 1 cup flour

  • 1/2 cup butter

  • 3 Tbsp sugar

  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten

  • ¾ cup sugar

  • ¼ cup flour

  • ½ tsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 1 tsp vanilla

  • 1 1/3 cup coconut

  • ½ cup maraschino cherries, chopped (1 whole 10 oz jar)

  • ¼ cup pecans, chopped


For pastry combine first 3 ingredients with pastry cutter. Press into 8 or 9 in square pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Meanwhile combine all other ingredients for topping. Spread over baked crust bake 35 minutes longer. Cut into bars. ENJOY!!
