A dog saved by its owner from the icy water of a Lincoln lake has in turn helped two men rescue the woman.

Steve Dye and Ray Frana, employees of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, were out checking the dam Wednesday at Holmes Lake when they noticed a dog out on the ice, next to a woman splashing in the water.

Frana crawled out onto the ice, carrying a rope. The dog was able to get to Frana, who tucked one rope end in the dog's collar, and the dog went back to the woman. She grabbed the rope, and the men pulled her back to the shore.

The woman said she had gone onto the ice to rescue her dog who had fallen through. She then fell through after rescuing the dog.
