In December state Treasurer Don Stenberg announced he would seek a second term as treasurer.
Stenberg says he considered making a run for the governor's seat, but
decided against it at this time in favor of running for re-election.
"If the people of Nebraska elect me to a second and final term as
State Treasurer, I will work hard to hold the line on spending, increase
financial transparency, return unclaimed property, promote college
savings and financial literacy, and promptly distribute child-support
payments to those who depend on them," Stenberg said.
Stenberg says he has worked to reduce his office's budget, made improvements to the state's spending website and returned millions of dollars worth of unclaimed property.
