The USDA says farmers in central Nebraska were able to reduce irrigation last week because of healthy amounts of rain. The report also states that 70 percent of both the corn and soybean crops are in good or excellent condition as of this week.
In Kansas, the latest government snapshot shows dry land crops that missed the recent rain are showing signs of stress as well.
Precipitation over the past week was limited to the northern half of the state with totals of less than a half-inch in most areas. The report shows about 15 percent of the corn crop and 10 percent of the soybeans are rated in poor to very poor condition.
