Dump Truck Driver Pleads Not Guilty in Death of Kearney Woman
A dump truck driver involved in a fatal accident last summer has pleaded not guilty to a manslaughter charge.
Lyle Carman, 56, pleaded not guilty Wednesday for the death of a 23-year-old Kearney woman.
Carman's truck struck Raven Addy-Cruz's car June 7 on Interstate-80 in Lincoln. She died two days after the accident.
Her husband and daughter were also in the car. The victim's family says Edgar Cruz suffered many injuries including eight broken ribs, and their 13-month-old daughter, Hazel, suffered leg injuries putting her in a cast for eight weeks.
Prosecutors allege Carman was under the influence of meth at the time of the accident.
His trial date has not been set.
