Outdoor Skills Program for Women Accepting Registration
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has opened registration for the Becoming an Outdoors Woman program.
The program is designed to encourage women to learn about ways to participate in outdoor activities.
The activities included in the program relate to hunting, camping, boating, backpacking, hiking and fishing, among others.
Women age 18 and older can attend the program on Oct. 4-6 at the 4-H Camp in the Bessey Division of the Nebraska National Forest, near Halsey.
Participants can choose their activities from a list that includes hiking, canoeing, kayaking, firearm safety, fishing, bow fishing, GPS, camping, rifle shooting, shotgun shooting, hunting, photography and dog selection and training.
Outdoor novices get preference, but experienced outdoorswomen are also invited. Organizers say the skills are taught in a non-intimidating, noncompetitive environment.
