Authorities were called to the scene of a crash between a semi and a pickup that took place on Highway 30 Monday evening killing a Gibbon man.
The driver of the pickup, 71-year-old Kermit Keller, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, where he died. Investigators say Keller was not wearing his seat belt.
The accident occurred on the stretch of highway between Kearney and Gibbon at around 6 p.m. Monday.
According to the Nebraska State Patrol, Keller's east-bound pickup was driving behind a semi and when the semi slowed down to make a turn the pickup didn't see the slow down and slammed into the back of the semi.
The 63-year-old driver of the semi suffered no injuries.
The accident closed a section of the highway for about two hours.
