An early morning blaze that engulfed a mobile home in Juniata Friday morning has left two people injured.

According to the Juniata Fire Department, crews from both Juniata and Hastings Fire Departments arrived on scene around 1:15 a.m. Friday. After an hour and a half, the fire was contained, but a spark from one of the hotspots engulfed the mobile home in flames a second time.

"It was just terrible this morning," eyewitness Ray Peters said. "Now it's on fire again. We got down here we would see the flames coming out of the window."

Smoke from the fire could be seen from Highway 44.

Peters says three people were home during the fire -- a mother and two daughters. Two injuries were reported. The mother was sent to the hospital, reportedly with burns on her feet, and a firefighter injured a leg.

The Hastings and Juniata Fire Departments worked throughout the morning to make sure the fire would be contained indefinitely.

"They're doing what we call overhaul," Mark Morgan, of the Juniata Fire Department, said. "They're basically just moving stuff around to find hot spots and put them out. That's what happened before. Something small, we couldn't find was buried under stuff then it started burning again."

The cause of the fire and condition of the injured remain unknown at this time.
