Authorities are investigating a fire that destroyed a rural Lexington home Thursday.
The Lexington Volunteer Fire Department was called to the home about 12 miles northeast of Lexington around 1 p.m. Thursday. By the time crews arrived, the house was fully engulfed in flames.
Twenty firefighters worked to put the fire out until around 4 p.m. Fire officials say due to high winds and the home's distance from Lexington the house is a total loss.
The fire marshal is still investigating the cause of the fire.
The names of the homeowners have not yet been released.
