Grand Island House Fire Displaces Family, Kills Pets


A fire ripped through a Grand Island home early Wednesday morning leaving two family pets dead.

Fire crews were called to the home on West 11th Street around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. A mother and son were home at the time of the fire and were able to get out. However, the family lost two of their dogs in the fire.

The fire is believed to have started in the living room, but the cause has not yet been determined.

The Red Cross was able to provide assistance to the three people displaced from their home after the fire.
