The State Fire Marshal is continuing its investigation into what caused a home to burn up near Malcolm.
The flames that consumed the house could be seen for miles around early Wednesday morning. Fire crews were called out just before 4 a.m. but not in time to save the home.
The Lancaster County sheriff's office said the building is a total loss.
The owner said the previous tenants had been evicted and no one should have been inside the home. Fire crews had responded to this same home less than a day before after, according to the homeowner, a space-heater left on had started a small fire.
The State Fire Marshal's office said it could take anywhere from weeks to months to complete an investigation into what caused this blaze.
