Holiday parties are a great time to get together with family and friends and a party isn't a party without food, but it is important that all food be prepared and served in a safe manner to keep the holiday fun from turning into a trip to the emergency room.
UNL extension educator Cami Wells shares some tips on preparing and serving food safely this holiday season.
She says the important things to remember involve keeping food preparation items, such as kitchen utensils, surfaces and hands, clean.
Additionally, avoid cross contamination by using separate items when preparing produce and meat.
She cautions about the importance of using a thermometer to ensure food will no longer carry any illness causing germs.
