A 39-year-old man who had previously lived in Hastings has been given prison time for receiving and distributing child pornography.

Prosecutors say Todd Tackwell was sentenced Tuesday to 13 years in prison for receiving and distributing child pornography. After his release from prison, Tackwell will be required to serve a life term of supervised release and be registered as a sex offender.

Federal investigators first contacted Tackwell in August 2008 when he lived in Hastings; it was believed that Tackwell was a subscriber to a commercial child pornography website. At that time, prosecutors say, Tackwell admitted he possessed child pornography on his computer.

Tackwell was indicted in 2010 after investigators found pornographic videos of children on his computer.

Previously, Tackwell had been given 35 to 45 years in a Nebraska prison for child sexual assault for a sexual relationship with a girl that started when she was 14. Before the Nebraska case, Tackwell was convicted in California for having a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old girl. He's been serving his California sentence of 25 years to life.
