A 37-year-old convicted sex offender has been given time in prison for child pornography he received while living in Oxford.

U.S. Attorney Deborah Gilg said Thursday that U.S. Senior District Judge Richard Kopf has sentenced Vance Baumbach to 15 years in prison and ordered him to pay $5,000 in restitution. Baumbach has also been ordered to pay attorney fees for three victims identified in the case.

According the the U.S. Attorney's Office, investigators had determined that Baumbach was participating in an online file sharing network and had offered to share more than 100 files that had been classified as "notable" by law enforcement. A subsequent search of his computer and numerous hard drives revealed more than 1,000 child pornography files.

At the time of his arrest, Baumbach was already a registered sex offender and was on parole out of Colorado for a conviction of offenses relating to child sexual assault.
