Gas prices have been on the rise over the past week across Nebraska. Average gas prices rose an average of 14.7 cents per gallon over the last week, according to a survey of Nebraska gas outlets by GasBuddy.

Nebraska's average of $3.58 per gallon remains lower than the national average of $3.62 per gallon, which rose almost 12 cents over the past week, according to GasBuddy.com.

GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan says he suspects the political unrest in Egypt is playing a role in the rising prices.

"The market is seemingly quite sensitive to the situation in Egypt as theEnergy Information Administration has reported two consecutive weeks of largedeclines in crude oil inventories, drawing concern that a loss in MiddleEastern crude would mean continued declines in inventories stateside," explained DeHaan.

Gas prices in Nebraska are nearly 11 cents per gallon higher than this time last year, while just barely remaining below where they were at this time last month.
