Gering Man Who Stomped Friend to Death Now Out on Parole
A 40-year-old Gering man is out of prison on parole less than eight years after killing a friend by stomping on him repeatedly.
Scott Cramer was convicted of stomping 30-year-old Tim McGrath to death in 2005 after pleading no contest to reduced charges. Prosecutors lowered the charge from second-degree murder in exchange for the plea.
Prosecutors said Cramer became enraged at McGrath after he broke a video tape on Oct. 12, 2005. Cramer then began stomping on and kicking the victim up to two dozen times while wearing cowboy boots. Prosecutors say the two were drinking at the time of the incident.
Cramer was sentenced to 15 to 20 years in prison and became eligible for parole this month.
