GI Priest Sentenced to Probation

A Grand Island priest was sentenced to two years probation Tuesday for threatening his brother with a club.

The Reverend Michael E. Wetovick was charged with making terroristic threats, attempted second-degree assault and using a large piece of wood to commit a felony. He pleaded no contest to reduced charges and the weapons charge was dismissed in exchange for his plea.

Hall County authorities say that on June 16 last year, Wetovick accused his brother of stealing from him, and a fight ensued. Authorities say the brothers have been involved in a long feud.

Wetovick is no longer listed on the parish website as associate pastor at Blessed Sacrament Church.
