The Grand Island Veterans Home and Grand Island Senior High School are co-hosting the annual Veterans Parade on Monday, November 12th at 2:00 p.m. through the front drive of the Veterans Home's campus.
In addition to the variety of military vehicles and floats, this annual event features the Grand Island "Unity Band", which is composed of students from all of the Grand Island high schools. The student body of Grand Island Senior High School and Walnut Middle School participate in a "Respect Walk", carrying banners and posters that pay tribute to our nation's veterans.
The purpose of this event is twofold. First, to pay tribute to our men and women who have served, or are serving, in the U.S. Armed Forces. Secondly, to teach the students about the sacrifices our veterans have made and the importance of patriotism.
All veterans and the public are welcome to attend this annual event. Parking is available on the west side of the United Veterans Club or in the north parking lot of the Veterans Home campus.
The Grand Island Veterans Home is located at 2300 W. Capital Ave. For any questions contact Nancy Klimek at (308) 385-6252, ext. 458 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
