GIPD: Consider Taking Shuttle Due to Muddy State Fair Lot

Grand Island police were urging Nebraska State Fair visitors to consider parking outside the main lot or using shuttles after rain turned the parking lot into "mud soup" Thursday morning.

Showers have made the lot muddy in the fair's second week. Volunteers tell NTV vehicles have gotten stuck.

Vehicles are still being parked in the main lot and shuttles are running.

"Grounds are wet, parking lots are wet, we're actually making plans to divert some of that water and we're making plans for the weekend realizing the grounds could be a little wet," said Fair Director Joseph McDermott on Wednesday.

McDermott said the fair has a gravel contractor on standby 24 hours a day.
