On Saturday night at around10:30 p.m. the Dawson County Sheriff's Office received a call about a report oftrespassing and shots fired in a rural area of Gothenburg.
An officer arrived atthe scene and a woman at a nearby home told the officer that a man had beenshot and was in a cornfield.
Authorities thenfound 47-year-old Patrick Hollis in the cornfield. The rural Gothenburg man hadsuffered a gunshot wound to his lower left side.
According to their investigationthere were other male suspects involved in the incident that had also fled intothe cornfield.
The Nebraska StatePatrol Air Wing division assisted in a search for the men but none were found.
Hollis was taken toGothenburg Memorial Hospital and later transferred to Good Samaritan Hospitalin Kearney.
