Governor's Ag Conference Talks Foreign Trade
The focus at the 25th Annual Governor's Ag Conference in Kearney was mostly about trade overseas.
With China becoming an increasingly important trading partner for Nebraska, the future remains in the hands of farmers and ranchers.
"We're the only state in America that's working with the Paulson Institute about agriculture and agribusiness," said Governor Dave Heineman. "We try to promote Nebraska agriculture and a better relationship between China and America in general on the economy."
Nebraska Director of Agriculture Greg Ibach says even though it's hard to think about the future right now because of the drought we'll be glad for these international relations later on.
"We also need to plan ahead and position Nebraska agriculture to be a driving force in world agriculture and world food production into the next 20-25 years," said Ibach.
