A Grand Island man has been given seven and a half years in federal prison for receiving and distributing child pornography.

United States District Judge JohnGerrard sentenced 57-year-old James Haugh last week in Lincoln. Haugh will also be required to serve a 5 year term ofsupervised release and to register as a sex offender.

Haugh was convicted in December following a three-day trial in Lincoln's federal court.

Prosecutors say Haugh received and distributed videos of child pornography on different occasions from Jan. 3, 2009, to Dec. 28, 2012, when a search warrant was served at his Grand Island home.

Investigators had used automated software to determine that Haugh's computer was sharing child pornographythrough the Internet as part of a proactive investigation conducted by the Nebraska Attorney General's Office and Project Safe Childhood.
